A quick update on our wellness program

July 8, 2019 By Roman Bloemke

A quick recap from last month’s blog, we incorporated a healthy eating bingo to tie in with our PartnerSHIP for Health program we are doing here at Twin Town Villa.

Employees needed to eat certain fruits and vegetables to be able to mark a spot on the bingo card to earn their bingo. For July in honor of National Parks and Recreation month we have put together a calendar for each day in July there is an exercise or outside activity to be done!

Who’s up for the challenge?!

National Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Month!

June 10, 2019 By Community Life Coordinator

In honor of Global Employee Health and Fitness Month in May we challenged all Twin Town Villa employees to drink 64oz of water a day which was tracked on a 30 day challenge calendar as part of the PartnerSHIP 4 Health program we are participating in.

In conjunction with that June is National fresh fruit and vegetable month. Why are eating fruits and vegetables so important? Here’s a few facts, vegetables are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, folate, fiber and potassium. The USDA recommends consuming 2 cups of fruit per day. Role in disease prevention, eating produce can cut your risk of cardiovascular disease and benefits weight management.

Throughout June we plan to offer plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables not only to our residents here but also in our staff room for employees to enjoy!

Bean Bag Boards with Andrew!

May 14, 2019 By Community Life Coordinator

Andrew Hansen is a Sophomore at Breckenridge High school. He contacted our community life coordinator in hopes to collaborate on a class project. For Andrew’s Health and English class he was given an assignment geared towards improving the quality of life of individuals in our community. He chose our residents!

Andrew made a bean bag board and taught the residents how to play! This activity brought up many good memories about summer games and activities that our residents have done at family events years ago. Due to popular demand Andrew returned a second day!

It is great watching inter-generational interaction. We had many residents just come to watch and talk with Andrew. Our residents always enjoy when youth come into our building. They love to talk about what the kids are doing, future plans and share knowledge with them!
