May Monthly Hightlight

June 18, 2018 By Community Life Coordinator

Well, Mother Nature was a little slow to give us such beautiful weather this spring. May was a very busy month here at Twin Town Villa; we had many great musical groups, piano recitals, a church group, high school students, young children and more through our doors.

To start our month residents and staff came together to make May Day baskets for each resident in our facility. This was a lot of work but everyone loved working together, keeping not only their hands but their mouths busy visiting for hours.

We had margaritas, daiquiris for spinach artichoke dip, salsa, chips and more for Cinco de Mayo.

HERE TO LEARN! High school students from the Wahpeton health careers class came to learn about older adults and the variety of careers/departments in our building. They enjoyed playing many different board games, doing manicures and most importantly learning about one another.

Twin Town Villa Assisted Living

Mothers Day!

Memory care resident, staff and volunteer students enjoyed planting individual flowers for the women living in our Twin Town Villa Community. We had many residents out of the building for this holiday. It was great to hear how they spent mother’s day.

Lipstick, Nail polish & LOVE was a hit in memory care. The residents loved this special gift right in time for mother’s day.

Our monthly trip to Dakota Magic Casino was a hit as always with a few of our residents winning BIG!

Tiny Tykes Daycare!    It’s amazing how much joy such someone so small can make! The residents really enjoyed coloring and doing crafts with the children in both memory care and assisted living.

Monthly Out to Supper Trip!

This month we went out to eat at Hills 210 in Wahpeton where they enjoyed great food and conversation. They have already asked when we will be going back!

Celebrating those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom!

Our Memorial Day service was a hit thanks to our very own resident Darlene who organized the event. She gave a beautiful service. Another resident Lura even played the piano.

BINGO!!!

They enjoy bingo twice a week. Regular bingo located in memory care and penny bingo located in assisted living.  We also have birthday bingo the third Saturday each month. Here are a few of our pictures.

Planting our beautiful flowers and vegetables!

Our residents are always eager to help plan flowers and vegetables!

Piano Recital Season! We had two great piano recitals this month from students of Karen Hendrickson and Arnette Arth.

Music, Music & More Music!

Throughout the month of May our residents experienced wonderful music by Rick & Loretta, Loran & the 3C’s, Craig Blackstad, DC & Hawk, Bill & Janet Bosch and Steve Worner.

Religious Services

Our resident truly appreciate the luxury of having religious services in the facility. We have weekly protestant worship, multiple different bible study groups along with monthly communion. We have weekly Catholic services/rosary along with monthly communion as well. These are offered in both memory care and assisted living by a many volunteers.

Twin Town Villa really appreciates all of the individuals who have came into our facility to help give our residents a great and meaningful quality of life here with us.

Cherished Memories

November 22, 2017 By Executive Director

Is is always sad when we lose a resident. However the memories and time spent with their family at their funeral is quite special. We get to share in happy memories. We talk of our time spent with them and listen to the family stories.

I was particularly tickled to hear a story today at recent funeral. She was a great animal lover. At one time while driving to the lake there were many frogs on the road and she did not like to run over them so she had her grandchild, who was riding with her at the time, walk in front of the car to shoo them away!

It is times like this that make us realize how much of a family we all are and how blessed we are to be part of their lives.

May you rest in Peace and know that you will always bring a smile to our and your families faces in thinking of you.

Summertime

October 13, 2017 By Executive Director

We have had one wonderfully busy summer!

Our first of 4 fishing trips was June 14th. Let’s Go Fishing, a volunteer organization provides us with guides and all the equipment needed to catch the big one.

We visited Prairie Wetlands facilities in Fergus Falls MN, where we got to see many butterflies and had a ride through the prairie on a golf cart.

A Red Hawks baseball game in Fargo was history making, there were two triple plays that day and a win!

Loran Hudson, a local musician, invited us and other facilities out to his farm in Lidgerwood, ND> Food and entertainment was provided and we danced our socks off!

Along with all of our daily and monthly activities a fun time was had by all!

In September we wii travel to Maplewood State Park to see the changing of the leaves. October brings little ghosts and goblins to our facility.

Please join us for coffee and snacks at 3:00 pm everyday.

Visiting our departed loved ones.

August 3, 2017 By Executive Director

Recently we took a most touching bus trip. Fern was anxious to see her husband’s grave in rural Lidgerwood, ND. Others had sites in the area so a bus load of us took off. Starting in MN then on to ND and SD. Residents had the chance to visit their loved ones and reminiscence. We got to see Fern’s old home and take a look at the crops and old farmsteads around us.

All and all we had a wonderful ride!

I am Thankful….

November 21, 2016 By Executive Director

As I embark on the start of the 2016 Thanksgiving week, I am greeted with an aroma of caramel apple dumplings baking for this afternoon snack today, my mind reminisces of the wonderful thought that this Thanksgiving will mark my third year of being the Executive Director at Twin Town Villa.

I am extremely grateful for my amazing staff and loving residents and their families. Each year marks new faces and new stories but the kindness and love are the same.  I pray for continued happiness and health as we enter into the holiday season and look forward to making new friends and numerous memories.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Twin Town Villa!
